Rio Hendricks, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at The Remedy Mental Health. She believes meaningful mental health care begins with trust, collaboration, and deep respect for each patient’s lived experience.
Rio earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the College of St. Scholastica. Her professional background includes advanced practice experience in medication management and clinical training across outpatient, forensic, and pediatric intensive-day treatment settings.
Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Rio spent six years as a psychiatric registered nurse specializing in eating disorders and complex comorbid conditions, including depression, anxiety, OCD, borderline personality disorder, and PTSD. She has also served on a Forensic Action Community Team (F-ACT) and worked within correctional facilities, bringing experience in high-acuity and community-based psychiatric care. Her clinical foundation began in pediatric health and wellness, where she spent four years as a licensed practical nurse.
Rio’s clinical approach is rooted in therapeutic partnership, radical honesty, and trust. She believes patients are the experts of their own experiences, and she serves as a clinical guide, meeting individuals exactly where they are. In addition to medication management, Rio emphasizes comprehensive psychoeducation, lifestyle integration, and collaborative goal setting to empower patients in their wellness journey.
She is motivated by the belief that wellness is more than the absence of illness, it is the presence of purpose, connection, and vitality. Rio is committed to lifelong learning and providing evidence-based care while actively working to dismantle stigma and ensure every patient feels seen, heard, and supported.
Outside of the clinic, Rio can often be found at the ice rink cheering on her kids at hockey games. She enjoys reading, drawing, and painting, values time with family and friends (and their dogs), and has a soft spot for a good scary movie.
