Biography

Dr. Hakes is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist and the Therapy Director at The Remedy. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the College of St. Catherine, a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology, and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a Forensic subspecialty. Licensed for independent practice since 2011, Dr. Hakes has a rich background in diverse therapeutic settings, including outpatient, day treatment, intensive outpatient, inpatient, civilly committed, and correctional environments.

With 13 years of service in the Wisconsin state prison system, Dr. Hakes departed as the supervisor of the psychology department, bringing extensive experience in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and clinical supervision. At The Remedy, she focuses exclusively on adult clients, addressing a wide range of presenting problems and diagnoses, with a special interest in trauma-related disorders and complex trauma. She is also trained in EMDR Therapy, enhancing her ability to support clients through holistic and person-centered approaches to recovery.

Dr. Hakes firmly believes in each client's innate ability to heal themselves when provided with the right tools and support. Her therapeutic philosophy emphasizes empowerment and self-discovery, guiding clients to achieve lasting recovery and resilience.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, making pottery, and enjoying live music.
